The Madhusudan Story

Since its inception in 1992, Madhusudan has grown alongside an important phase of India’s White Revolution, a time when the country was reshaping its dairy landscape, becoming one of the world’s largest milk producers and strengthening the backbone of its rural economy. That's the world we were born into, and it shaped everything about who we became.

It was during this period that Madhusudan, under SMC Foods Limited, set out with a clear purpose, to build a brand rooted in Trust, Quality, and Responsibility. A straightforward Purpose, build something people can trust. Source good milk. Treat farmers fairly. Make products that families can feel good about buying.

Growing Up, Branching Out

As the years passed and the organization expanded, the need for a more focused and efficient structure became evident. The business gradually evolved through a well-planned division of its family owned enterprise into specialized entities.

Dairy journey

Home of Freshness

This transition led to the formation of "Creamy Foods Limited" and "Bareilly Foods Limited" each carrying forward the same commitment to purity and quality, but with renewed energy and sharper operational focus. While the structure changed over time, the name on the pack stayed the same, carrying forward its identity and legacy.

The journey on the ground began with the establishment of its first milk processing plant in Nanauta village in the Saharanpur district, followed by another in Bartoli village (Khurja) in Bulandshahr district. Located in the heart of Uttar Pradesh, India, these facilities became more than just processing units. They became growth centers for thousands of dairy farmers in the region. With a vision to bring health, quality, and satisfaction to an ever growing consumer base, these plants helped bridge the gap between rural producers and urban demand.

The Network Behind the Numbers

From the outset, the approach was simple yet impactful: procure only high quality milk and ensure that farmers have access to wider, reliable markets. Over time, this approach brought more than 200,000 dairy farmers into the fold and led to the creation of around 5,500 village level societies, building a strong and dependable network at the grassroots level.

Every day, milk collected from villages travels through an extensive network of 400 routes, reaching 30 milk chilling centers before making its way to the processing plants. Here, it undergoes pasteurization and is carefully processed into a wide range of dairy products. At every step, strict hygiene practices and rigorous quality checks are followed, with each batch undergoing as many as 36 quality tests. The facilities are ISO 22000:2005 certified and managed by skilled professionals, supported by modern, automated dairy technology.

Understanding that quality begins at the source, Madhusudan has also invested in setting up compounded cattle feed plants in villages. By ensuring better nutrition for livestock, the company contributes to improving both the quality and consistency of milk production.
